What is Micro-coring (Ellacor)?

The Ellacor is a non-surgical cosmetic micro-coring procedure that removes extremely tiny columns of tissue that heal without any visible scarring. Thousands of micro-cores can be removed in a single treatment session, amassing 3-8% of the skin in a given area. This results in skin tightening in a similar fashion to a face-lift, but without the surgery or risk of general anesthesia. The Microcoring Rejuvenation Procedure

• Treatment Planning: Dr. Walter will customize a treatment plan based on your skin quality, skin laxity and desired outcomes.
• Procedure: On the day of your procedure, the treatment area will be numbed with a local anesthetic. During the numbing, you have the option of using a Nitronox nitrous system to improve your comfort. Once your skin is numb, the Ellacor device will be used to create micro-cores in a precise grid pattern. Excess skin will be removed through hollow needles, but the micro-cores are so tiny that they will begin to heal almost immediately.
• Recovery and Downtime: Following the procedure, you may experience redness, bruising, swelling, and subtle bleeding. You will also be able to see the grid pattern of the micro-cores. Patients need to keep the treatment area hydrated with a thick layer of vaseline or aquaphor during the healing process (at least five to seven days). Downtime can vary but typically lasts around five to seven days, during which you’ll need to follow the post-treatment care instructions provided by our clinic.

Safety Considerations

• Side Effects: Temporary side effects may include redness, swelling, tightness, tingling, discomfort, dryness, and skin peeling. These effects usually resolve within a few days to weeks. Less frequent side effects include more prolonged erythema, temporary loss of facial hair, infection, scarring.
